moochoo
Today we decided to go to Cotswold chickens to get a heat lamp for our brooder. The only thing we didn't have in order to be prepared for when we'd done the dispatch course in Sheffield. We had no plans on getting any chicks as we thought Jude was waiting for her next delivery. While we were talking to her she said she'd had her delivery and the chicks were 3 days old. It would have been rude not to take a few home on Easter Sunday, wouldn't it? So we now have 6 little dinners happily stuffing their little beaks. They are apparently all County Golds but 3 are very light yellow and the other 3 are bronze. The learning begins! Redwing
Hurrah! We have the same ones, the bronze ones are faster growing then the yellow, I think the bronze ones are the Country Gold birds We are pleased with ours, they are growing well and looking very tasty

Jules.
Hmm. I will have to be strong, as I presume my light sussex boys will look cute They are destined to be dinners
Lewis
They look really cute, but I'm sure it won't last long. Are they having names? or did I just ask a ridiculous question
moochoo
No, we're not naming them. Although one has been called Gobby already! I think it's one of the boys and he loves to stand up tall and shout...very amusing. They're just being collectively known as "the dinners". It's our first time having chicks of any sort and it's been so interesting seeing them do chickeny behaviour at such a young age. The wing/leg stretch is very cute when they're this tiny. Just got to focus on the end result.....yummy.
