I came out of freecycle and dont get nearly so much now! Also I clear it by select all and delete rather than pick them out and it has fallen drastically - no more viagra!! Loads of watches and bank stuff ( false) of course

What a pain Fred, I am with Googlemail and I get around 1 spam message a week, and I am on loads of Freecycle groups.

Never, its a pain to use, the software is full of bugs and is quite slow to load. GoogleMail's filter is working because its putting it into the spam folder and not my inbox. You don't get much because they haven't found your email address - yet.

Found a great feature in Gmail, you can make your own programs! So I made one to automatically delete spam messages as soon as they are received, problem solved!

Hmm only problem with this is that once in a while Gmail puts a genuine post in the spam box, no idea why.

Change to Hotmail - I can't remember the last time a piece of spam got through (incidentally you MUSTN'T spell it with a capital letter- that's WRONG!!!). See linky here

its only with a capital letter because it's in the title and I was shouting, I added a little ™ now.

Spam doesn't get through to my main inbox - it goes to the spam folder, where it should! I'm just amazed at how much there is! I do use hotmail, but I hate it too much, its slow and buggy.

My hotmail account saeems to be problem free too. Very little rubbish gets through.

I can no longer use my Hotmail account. Someone hacked into it and changed my passwords so I couldn't access it. When I wrote to Hotmail, they sent me a new password....yes you've guessed it.....to the Hotmail account I can't access.

 

I emailed them again asking for them to sort it out but they now want answers to so many security questions, none of which I can recall the answers to (as I opened the account 10 years ago), so I guess that account is dead.

I have two Hotmail accounts and neither of them are unduly bothered by spam, just the odd 'meds' spam every few days. Perhaps it's because I don't submit the adresses online much (internet transactions etc) and so it's not out there for the spambots to pick up.
