Mud, Sweat & Tractors

Recommended Posts

Oh lummy, I expect we will be watching this.

Hubby is partway through restoring a tractor. We have a 1971 David Brown 990 Selectamatic and he's restoring it back to original condition. Most of this work is being done in the house, and I really mean "in the house" rather than "in house" - the conservatory has a makeshift spray booth in it, and the kitchen is used for drying sprayed parts due to the Rayburn. I haven't been able to use the dining room for months as it is full of parts, at the moment the bonnet is next to the dining room table, and quite a bit of cab and instrument panel is on the table.

I can tell what colour he is spraying at any one time, as his hair and beard is that colour. He was sporting Poppy Red a month or so ago and started to take on a Billy Connolly kind of look

Once Erik (the tractor's name) is finished, I'm told we will use him to do the Asda run and other local trips :shock:

I think local residents already think we are a bit strange, but this may be the final straw.

Is this normal?!

I'll try to post some photos of it so you can see what I'm talking about!!

Ooooh noooo Tractors

This is our Ferguson TE20. We have got assorted vintage stuff. The fergie is hubbys pride and joy. I dont complain about it as he used to have a 10 ton steam roller so this is a walk in the park in comparison.

Hes out at band practice so I guess I better go and 'plus' it for him.

Im sure my oh with be very impressed with your David Brown.

Me however... I have that wind rushing over head feeling when it comes to tractors and the like.

My son is totaly addicted to vintage too. He is saving up his pocket money and his current want is to build a scale model steam engine. He already has a Lister D stationary engine which he is doing up so he can start doing the shows. He's 13.

I bet Pengy's James will have a great time having a tractor ride :D
