Chook n Boo Mum
I have a pile of different fabrics, but only plain colours, although I could use some of the tape fabric (chickummyjig's legs) I bought the other day....I think I'll do it plain, then I can use the "best" fabrics once I know what I'm doing !! bigmommasally
Hi Plum the template has just arrived - thanks ever so much So I'm ready for the next stage of instructions
Plum
Hi Sally, ready for the next bit it's fun so don't get traumatised by having to cut your lovely squares up. Step 1 We are going to draw round the template. Place it on the top left corner with the lines I've drawn on the template lined up with the seams. Then draw round the template. Now move to next corner and do the same working across and down the quilt. Carry on until you have done every corner. Have a look again at the photos on previous post to see some more. Plum
Forgot to say keep going across middle of quilt as well. When I did it some lines overlapped. That's because I didn't follow my own advice and the squares were just a bit smaller than they should be. If that happens to you worry not, I'll tell you what to do. bigmommasally
Okay I've done it! but sadly some of mine do overap by about 1/8 of an inch and I thought I'd got perfect 4 inch squares.
Plum
Only God is perfect. Step 2 Shut chickens, cats and dogs that are likely to sit on your work out. and if you can put it on something like a jigsaw board or where you can leave it without it getting disturbed then all the better. Your are now going to cut along all the lines but keep the pieces in the same place. If like me your lines overlap just cut between them. That wasn't so bad was it. bigmommasally
Really? .........I'm not sure I can take the scissors to it
Plum
Step 3 Now we are going to remove all the triangles from the outside and the little squares in the middle of the blocks your work will now look like this. Save the little squares and you can use them on a miniature version. Only joking but one person from the group is doing just that. I'm going to have a bath so let me know if you want me to post any more tonight or shall we save the reveal for tomorrow. You are going to be so pleased with what happens. bigmommasally
Save the reveal for tomorrow - lets give others a chance to catch up I think I might need a stiff drink ( or 2 ) after cutting it up so probably won't be a good idea to attempt anything further tonight. Thanks, enjoy your soak
Plum
That's good as I have videos for the next bit. To keep your work safe when cut up, you can transfer the pieces as they are onto a teatowel or similar and pin them in place so they look like they do now. As if I don't have enough to do My Tuesday night patchwork class is a catch up for those that are behind. Unfortunately, I am not behind so need to take something to occupy myself. This looks like it could be just the thing. Pretty Please could I also have a template?
craftyhunnypie
My god, it all looks so complicated. I'll have to book on a patchwork course - it looks so beautiful. There is a place at Goostrey that runs them. Think it's called Calico wagon? Emma.x

Plum
Emma don't let it put you off. This is definately not how I usually make patchwork. Someone with too much time on their hands made this up.
craftyhunnypie
Wre could do with a patchwork get together. I can just picture us all carrying our sewing machines & we do have a unit place where our business is. Emma.x

Chook n Boo Mum
I have no idea what you are talking about What were you drinking last night I've replied to your pm and will get your template in the post today. I wasn't drinking anything when I typed it up, the gobbledegook showed up fairly clearly how my patchwork had been arranged........I have so got to get a camera It obviously looks better than the "diagram" shows!!! DD got up this morning & was very complimentary Sha x
Plum
It lost its formating on the version I can see but I've worked out what you mean now. Had to have a tipple before I could see it. Forget the camera your descriptions are more fun.
Chook n Boo Mum
Thanks Plum, it's here...I just have to finish the 101 other jobs then I can settle down for a mark & cut session! Is it vital that I have perfect corners? 3 or 4 are slightly out......... May just have to invest in a tailors chalk pencil or similar as I have no idea where mine have disappeared to and the colours I chose are too dark to use most of my pens , DH will love going to C&H Fabrics when we meet in town for a coffee date later Sha x
