emily95 Posted April 20, 2009 Share Posted April 20, 2009 Please help me, Perky isn't looking very well. I noticed yesterday that she had dirty knickers, and was walking around quite slowly when she was free ranging. She was still eating and drinking normally though. However, today she has stayed in the nesting box, and only came out for a grape (which she then held in her beak until she dropped it). At 5 O'clock she was stood by the glug, and within less than an hour she is back in the nesting box and it looks and sounds like she is finding it hard to breathe. Hen Watch Posted April 20, 2009 Share Posted April 20, 2009 Fingers crossed for your chook. Stella was having laboured breathing last week and sitting down rocking all the time. My vet isn't a poultry specialist but does see chickens and gave her an antbiotic injection plus an injection against internal parasites. I still know know what brought on the respitory problems (peritonitis, infection, worms.... I'll never know) but she's now ok. So if you can take her to a vet it might be a good idea. My mum and dad have been at work all day today so they havent been able to take her to the vet, and the local one doesnt do chickens. However, Perky's breathing is better today, it sounds more normal and she isnt lifting her self when she breathes. She has spent the whole day in the nesting box, apart from coming out once ( she was walking very slowly and she was a bit wobbly on her feet) for a drink. Hoping she gets better .
