speckled hen
Hi everyone Im soooooooo excited I have just got off the phone from ordering some new girls, I have been hunting for a buff orpington and have found one at long last, just as I was about to give up and start sulking! I was also looking for a cream legbar or another blue egg layer, and what do you know the breeder has aruacanas and shetlands which are both blue blue/green egg layers! So Im one happy lady My only concern is space, I have a cube which has 2 light sussex and 2 marans in at the moment, they seem to inhabit a small corner! Does anyone have an orpington in a cube? Will they be alright? They have a large walk in run and get to trash the garden most days. One last thing, do I go for aruacana or shetland??????? or both?!!!!!! Cheers everyone Edited April 27, 2009 by Guest

Falkor
I have two orps in my cube along with two hybrids and they are fine The ladder was a bit of a pa-larva to start with for the Orps but now they are up and down no trouble There is still room to spare in the too so i may soon be following you with a new buff orp and a blue egg layer! Orps are SO dopey and soft!!! I love them! And I can`t believe you asked the question do you get aracuna or shetland! you know we are all going to say BOTH!!!! lol! Omlet do say the cube will hold 10 birds and as long as the run is adequate i don`t see the problem. I am sure Janty has had 15 girls in a cube (their own choice other 's were available) and she has brahamas and Cochins!
chelsea
I have a flock of 6, two of which are humungous cochins and 1 fat old girl Ella so you will be fine with an Orpington in a cube. pics asap, but I cant promise that a bout of "orp envy" will not rear its evil head. I am going to take enough cash with me to buy all 3 and then decide for sure when I get there (anyone convinced that I havent already decided to get all 3?!! ) Egluntine - We do have a spare house, do you think I should use it? When we added the last 2 we waited untill bed time and just popped them in so dh and I have been wondering what would be best for these girls. Only another 3 sleeps to go!!!! speckled hen
Well it's Monday and we collected our new girls today We arrived to collect them in the pouring rain so all the girls were wet through! It was a great place with lots of gorgeous girls, a bit like a child in a sweet shop! First up we got our Buff orpington (21 weeks) who we have named Mabel, the decision about shetland or aruacana was taken out of our hands as the araucanas where sold so we picked a shetland baby (16 weeks) she is gorgeous with a pretty feathered head, hubby has named her Morag. Finally, we picked a columbian (Im sure that is what he said she is!) and we have called her marigold (21 weeks) We have put them in the spare hen house, they are nice and settled. The other girls have been having a good luck and have been pecking through the wire! I have taken photos but need to upload them to a photo place, I dont get on with photobucket, any other suggestions??? Also how do I get pics onto post?
