feemcg
Was doing some ironing today and realised that this t-shirt used to belong to my eldest daughter (nearly 19......I had her very young ). Anna loves it and wears it all the time, it washes so well and has never lost it's shape or colours. Anyone else got some long-lasting hand-me-down favourites? Looney
I have loads of my dad's old t-shirts and a pair of his Wrangler flares that date from about 1980 (when I was two!). I also have a sort of shirt/t-shirt that was my dad's that he was handed down from my great-uncle! I love hand-me-downs!
The Dogmother
Mmmeeee! *jumps up and down* I have loads of hand me downs and my favourite which I have mentioned on here before is a beautiful hand smocked dress that was worn by my grandma, my mother, me and finally Rosie all at about 6 months of age. Here's Rosie in it: Rosie is now earing a lot of my clothes that I have *ahem* grown out of. I always recycle and pass on all our clothing. bigmommasally
That dress is gorgeous claret and it looks like new My daughters have both worn some of my old clothes from the 70's & early 80's - they are furious with me that I didn't keep more of my clothes. And although they are both in their 20's now they still have some t-shirts that they had when they were about 9 years old that they wear to sleep in! The Dogmother
What a lovely pic Clare.....where's the dress now? Boxed up in tissue paper in the loft at Rosie's request for 'my little girl'. My sister was soo not interested in borrowing it for her daughter.
feemcg
Aw lovely......I have my brother and I's Christening robe (my daughters weren't Christened). I'd like to 'restore' it though as it's beautiful......quite plain but elegant looking.
Mutrix Farmers
As a child I was always going to use my mum's wedding dress but by the time I got married I was 5ft 6inches and a size 12. Mum is 5ft 1inch and was a size 8 when she got married!! We've never been able to share clothes!! And my 14 year old son isn't interested in mine (although he has nicked my hair putty!!) Olly
Awww ... my sisters had smocked dresses like that. As the youngest of five, I wore a lot of hand-me-downs! It hasn't made me hate them though, I love a charity-shop bargain. I've still got the shoes I bought with my first wage packet from a Saturday job. They were high-heeled, beige suede court shoes and I thought they were the bees' knees, mum would not buy me heels so I had to wait till I was earning to get them. I can't even fit into them now, let alone wear them but I can't bear to throw them out. I might try and post a pic later. They must be, ummm, 30 years old!!
