kerryegg
Hi everyone reading this. I am a fan of Er and am really enjoying the final series. Great to see Dr Carter last night but what treatment was he having? Next weeks summary doesn't give any clues.
Guest
I thought it was dialysis and a quick google confirmed it was. Of course there could be some interesting disease involved.
Bantambabe
WARNING SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!! Don't read on if you don't want to know... It was dialysis - well spotted. He's got problems cos he lost one kidney when he was stabbed (when Lucy was killed), and he has had some infection in Africa which has damaged the other one. So he has come home to get a transplant. I'm enjoying the new (last) series but I think mainly because of all the old characters popping in - I don't care enough about any of the new characters except for Neela and Ray (and yes they will!!!!!). Wish someone would take the lemon out of Banfield's mouth. Really looking forward to Doug Ross's return in 3 weeks (phwoar! swoon George Clooney )
kerryegg
Many thanks. I know it's only fiction but can't help getting emotionally involved. Hope Sam ends up happy as well.
bluekarin
I am going to need a big box of tissues when its the last one I have watched ER since it began and I know it needs to end, but what else am I going to watch now?
Ms Marple
I am going to need a big box of tissues when its the last one I have watched ER since it began and I know it needs to end, but what else am I going to watch now? I feel like that too -for me nothing else quite compares. I assumed that Carter was on dialysis on Thursday night and must have an infection type thing going on. I also thought that there was no wife anymore..... not that I'd expect to see her in this last series.

Seagazer
I haven't watched Thursday nights episode yet. I'm so upset that its ending. I've watched it from the beginning too. So many of the episodes have been so powerfull, especially the episode where Carter and Lucy were attacked (if I remember right it was by the chap who plays Bernard in Santa Clause ) I really like the fact that Archie is coming into his own now. I shall be so upset when it finishes. I have got into Grey's Anatomy though since the last season.

Its one of my most memorable and I tried to catch it when More 4 showed them again last year. But would you believe I missed it I really didn't like Archie when he first started, but he has most definatly become another fave character. I am not really looking forward to Dr Ross coming back as he wasn't a character I really liked.

Dr Ross wasn't my favorite either - in fact I'm not keen on George Clooney as an actor at all He's always got his head bent down, whats that all about? I realise I'm probably in a minority there! Ms Marple
Nooo. He was never a favourite of me either Carter or Luka or most fav Dr Greene
Helly Welly
It seems ard to believe that they'll be no more ER. I vividly remember when Carter and Lucy got stabbed and when Dr Greene died. I'm loving Archie but i'm sick of Sam being a cow. I also want Neela and Ray get together.
Seagazer
Oh I want Neela and the aussie doctor (name escapes me) to really get together. My DD loves Ray. Yes I think its a close run thing for me between Luka and Dr Greene. Have you seen Goran in Practical Magic - he plays a baddie. He is so gorgeous. Cinnamon
He is delcious, isn't he? I love ER, love it to bits & Archie is my current favourite character. Don't know his real name. Neela has come along way since 'Bend it like Beckham' with Keira Knightly!! Loved Practical Magic!! I still think Dr Greene before Carter. Mainly as I found his character so empathetic and also because I felt a bond through the tumour storyline as we had been through our own similar event around the same time. Luckily ours was operable and is now a strapping young man of 17. I used to want Carter and Abby to work out too. Gosh I will miss ER loads. I like Greys Anatomy too but it's not really in the same league for me.
bluekarin
I didn't realise tonights was the very very last one! Bye bye ER Well, ahem, I got that a bit wrong There are three more to go *phew*
..lay a little egg for me
Did you see all the old-timers back last night? George Clooney, Juliana Margolies (sp?), Noah Whylie and err, whatsisname who played Benton? Great to see them again. Still think GC is rubbish at playing a convincing doctor (he admitted that he had to have his lines written down on a cuff, the bed etc when he was in the series 'cos he could never remember all the medical terms )...nice to look at tho... Ah so is that why he always has his head bent down then? I'm a couple of episodes behind at the moment, I watched the one last night where Carter starts working in the dept and Brenner looses it with the foster dad of the little girl. He's a troubled man, bless him. I'm starting to worry the Archie's girlfriend is going to come to a sticky end. I can't cope with my favourite american dramas at the moment, what is Robert up to in Brothers & Sisters - shame on him! Everybody in Mad Men are having affairs or in bad relationships. And I can just drool at Dr McDreamy and Dr McSteamy in Greys I wish I could get as excited over british dramas.
Nutmeg
I'm with you all the way ladies about George Clooney's acting ability. I prefer to gaze at him in print, rather than watch him. Or close my eyes and listen to his voice. I've watched it from the beginning and this last series has been great with all the old characters returning. Agree about Archie blossoming; couldn't stand him at first; now I think he is lovely. One of the most moving episodes was with him sitting with a patient who had a split personality disorder. Cried my eyes out, it was so moving.
Bantambabe
and err, whatsisname who played Benton? T'was Eric La Salle - good to see him still not having time for the consultants who think they're gods. Still think GC is rubbish at playing a convincing doctor (he admitted that he had to have his lines written down on a cuff, the bed etc when he was in the series 'cos he could never remember all the medical terms )...nice to look at tho... and his eyes just SCREAM "come to bed" (sorry, is that allowed on a family forum??) Glad Neela is moving on from Brenner - ok he's a troubled soul, but she needs to get back to RAY, right now. Had a very worried moment last night that they were going to kill off Carter - phew they didn't

T'was Eric La Salle - good to see him still not having time for the consultants who think they're gods. I knew that!!! (just could not bring the name to mind...sorry Eric). Those checklist things have been introduced recently and have been shown to reduce medical errors...I was abstracting a paper about these measures just the other day (I am a medical writer). Ms Marple
I too was worried that Carter was not going to make it through last night's programme. I was happy to see him ringing Kam(Kim? Thandie Newton!)at the end. GC - rubbish zero empathy. what about Grey's Anatomy.I am being too clever or has Issy got cancer or something awful? Seagazer
Ooh yes I think she has. You know when Denny was visiting her and he kept saying "I'm here for you" well he actually meant he was here to take her with him sort of thing. She had some tests done but the results got mixed up. I hope it doesn't prove fatal, I like Izzy.
Seagazer
I watched the double bill this morning! I'm glad they didn't kill Archie's girlfriend off. I actually shouted NO when it happened. Must remember its only a television programme........
