debbietabby
Help Please!!! I've only had my chooks for 3 weeks and one seems to have gone broody! Where do the others lay their eggs??? They're hanging around the eglu with an air of "haven't you finished yet?", and I fear the poor things have their legs crossed! Do you provide an alternative nest box? Or heave the broody out and let the others have a turn? Sadly I haven't got any where to put the broody - never expected this to happen so soon! madchickenlady
My broody is currently hogging the girls favourite nest box They shout at her a bit, and then just squeeze next to her/sit on her and get on with it No respect!
chelsea
broodies are a pain in the bum arent they We did put a cat litter tray lined with aubiose at a quiet place at the back of the run and Willow has laid in there whilst my cochin was broody. You could do similar or some people have had success with a child's potty. If you want to snap your broody out of it keep her off the nest as much as possible, block off the nest box at night and if you want to you could put her in a broody cage. ali-s
I've had a couple of Bantams that were persistant broodys no matter what I did to snap them out of it. I used a toddlers potty as a spare nestbox, I think Chookiehen/Chester suggested it I put the potty in the Eglu on the roosting bars behind the nestbox.
