I am picking them tomorrow from cotswold farm

I thought I had to leave them in their coup for a day but half hour or so sounds great i don't think I could wait. they will stay in their run for a few days before I let them out I have a springer and am a bit worried he might think I have bought him some walking talking food!!!! :D

When Mr. Omlet bought mine they were just left in the run for 5 days so they knew where their new home was :D, they weren't locked in the eglu at all and a little encouragement the first couple of nights and they went to bed nicely.

Enjoy your girls :dance::dance:

How exciting! :dance: We'll want pictures!

When I brought mine home, I put them straight in the run, and with some encouragement with a torch through the house, they found the way to bed. The second night they did it all by themselves (clever girls!).

I left them in the run for 5 days before letting them free-range, and it means they do know where is safe.

I also have a dog, a terrier cross breed. He barked like a lunatic for the first few days, however, we tried some water squirting techniques and now he's fine and isn't bothered by them at all (although I still keep him on a lead when the girls are free-ranging, as I don't trust him with them yet, but it has only been a few weeks)

Hope today goes well for you, I can't wait to hear about your girls.

yay :dance: I got me some chickens!!!!

came away with three..Black rock, Bovan and Amber lea...wow just dragged myself away..what beauties.

Does the pecking order thingy sort itself out soon, the Red one is very bossy she is the oldest one. shes pecked the dog too!!! that will teach him and she let the kids stroke her.

Think i may need to get a comfy chair out the shed cos guess where I will be all day tomorrow????

Thank you for all your kind comments and well wishing..it really is like having a new baby!!

Welcome to the land of chickens.... you will be addicted very soon! I went to get 3 came home with 5 added one, and then got 2 babies... and its only been 2 months! :oops::oops:

We left them in the coop for 1/2 hour and then in the run for 2 days. We only have a small garden so i dont think that they needed any longer. I also only let them out an hour before dusk, so that they just had a short time and i did not have to try and chase them back into the run! They just trotted in to bed when it started to go dark.

Cant resisit - keep looking at others that I would like...if only I had more space!

Did you get yours from Jude at Cotswold Chickens? That is where we got our first 5 - my 4 year old really wanted a "little ballerina" white star!

Enjoy - they are VERY entertaining.
