lizziee
I noticed today that delia had a limp, she didn't run for the grapes like she usually does, and now she standing with her left foot up. she can put weight on it, but it obviously very sore. I've tried to look a it but can't get close. From what i can see there seems to be nothing in it and no blood. How long should i leave it before we try to get her to the vets? Any advise welcome as i'm very worried.
Egluntyne
I would wrap her in a towel and with someone else holding her firmly, try to examin the foot. If it is merely a thorn or similar, you could try bathing it and seeing if the it can be gently removed. If it is swollen and red, with no obvious foreign body, she might have a condition called Bumblefoot, which needs to be treated by a vet. ubereglu
How is she now? Muddles has hurt her foot on occasions and ended up limping, usually it was because she'd landed awkwardly after jumping from things, so it was just a sprain and cleared up after about a week and a half. Just check she's feeding ok and not getting picked on.
lizziee
she's back to normal thanks, the next day i found a softey egg in their run, It must have been delia, i've read on another thread that if they are about to lay a soft shelled egg they sometimes limp or stand on one leg, something to do with nerves. so much relieved, I actually had nightmares that night about trying to catch her to take her to the vets
