bellekatz
I have been thinking for a while how much I would love another blue egg layer. Ellie went to her retirement home where i bet she hasn't layed any blue eggs either.l So having decided that our walk in run was too small for any more girls I thought about a cube and run and when the veg patch is finished with this year, even more free ranging room. Then I thought it would be a good idea to get a new blue egg layer. And I found an add on for a trio of young girls -cream legbar, welsummer and double laced barnevelder. The huband of the lady who is selling them is up at Old Trafford nect tuesday so he can drop them off for me! The CL is 11 weeks and the other two are 7 weeks which is the closest I will get to having chicks!! They will get to have the eglu whilst the big girls will have to "make do and mend"! Can't wait for some baby chucks Update Seems I won't be getting my baby girls after all - the lady who was selling them has mycoplasma in her flock and has had to cull 30 birds. The babies are on anti-biotics but she advised me that if they were going to live with other birds (which eventually they would) they may be carriers so not to have them I am really disappointed byt am trying to source some from somewhere else in lancashire where i hope to swap the barnevelder for an Orpington and still get a Cream Legbar and a WElsummer. Fingers crossed this time it happens Edited June 21, 2009 by Guest

bellekatz
I am so excited. They are now coming on Friday lunchtime ( good job I work close to home!) The fact that the ladies OH was coming this way I think must mean they are chickens of fate?? I just need to sort out overnight housing on Friday night for them unless the rain holds off and I can sort the eglu on thursday night. I have never had such young girls before ,they will be really cute and thw CL has been hand reared so should be much tamer and less flighty than my last one! bellekatz
Really disappointed today as I found out early this morning that my babies weren't arriving today after all. We will hopefully pick them up from Liverpool two weeks tomorrow which means I spent 2 hours putting the eglu and run together for nothing Never mind - I am sure they will be beautiful girls, just disappointed today as I was so excited about having little girls for the first time. Redwing
What a shame, where are they coming from?
bellekatz
A lady from near Welshpool/Oswestry is selling them - her hubby was due at a meeting a mile or so from us today, but she is ill and he had to cancel to look after the baby. So he is working in Liverpool in a few weeks and we will pick them up there. Just a dissapointment when I was expecting young girls today. Redwing
What a shame as I will be in Blackburn next week but Oswestry is a bit far west for me to detour as I need to be in Blackburn at about 10am
bellekatz
Thanks for even thinking about it - that's very kind. It isn't too much of a problem really - Liverpool is just 1/2 an hour away - I am at a car boot with DD (raising money for her expedition next year) in the morning so we will pop along in the afternoon which means I get to miss the dreadful pageant parade which goes past my front door
poachedegg
What a shame........still not too long to wait and I'm sure they'll be worth it.
bellekatz
It all seems to have gone pear shaped see above - we will wait and see what tomorrow brings. Shame my broody has stopped being broody or I would ahve put some Cream Legbar eggs under her.....typical
