jackiepoppies
Rhubarb and a tayberry bush (cane?) where my chooks free range? I am sure this has already been answered somewhere, but I can't find it Any other advice on which fruits can cohabit with my girls would be gratefully received Jx
Ain't Nobody Here
I think rhubarb leaves are poisonous to them (although they usually know to avoid poisonous plants). I don't know about the tayberry .
Christian
Yep, rhubarb leaves are poisonous but mine don't touch them. Not sure that the berries will survive a chicken attack
jackiepoppies
Thanks for that. I think I'll take the risk and plant the rhubarb What I actually want to do is plant a mini orchard with all different fruits where my girls can free range and have some of the windfalls and not touch ( ) the low growing stuff Jx
jomaxsmith
If mine are freeranging when the raspberries are ripe they eat as many fruit as they can reach, and they do some very athletic jumps to reach as many as they can! Jo
Patricia W
I have both and they chickens haven't bothered with them. But I have to say that the tayberries was only put in this autumn and so we haven't had any fruit yet. I guess I'll net them off when we do
