debbie
Hi eveyone Now the weather has turned colder I would like to give my girls something warm to eat before bedtime. I know you can make different sorts of porridge up for them, could anyone give me an idea or two. I have some scots porridge oats, ( is this ok ) do I just add hot water to them and let them cool to a safe heat and feed or do I do something else. Or do I do it with their pellets. The Dogmother
Great idea, they love it! I use Pellets Porridge oats a dab of olive oil raisins Mix it up with warm water and let it sit for 20 minutes while the pellets dissolve. Other people add things like yoghurt too

Laura & CTB
I give my girls porridge oats mixed with warm water or with bio yoghurt - it's one of the only three things other than mash I found they will eat so far
The Dogmother
I forgot to mention that I mix in some Omega seeds (pumkin, sunflower and linseeds)
debbie
Just given first porridge, thank you for recipes. The girls didn't like their beaks being gluey, but still they thought this was something to scooff. So they did. (wipe beakes on each other ) My girls don't let me down. Thank you Debbie
The Dogmother
Glad to hear it Debbie - it's a good sneaky way of making sure that they get all their goodies.
feemcg
After reading this today I mixed up a big shallow dish of pellets with warm water and added sweetcorn and mealworms - they loved it!
Trish
I often add veggie leftover etc to the porridge too, always seem to go down well
gooner.girl
Mine love porridge! And i love the idea of giving them something warm when its so cold out! Seeds are a good idea. I have some of them, i'll try it tomorrow. I guess using seeds rich in omega 3 can only make the eggs better for you as well!
