missuscluck
After turning down the offer from Landshare as it was too far away we have been offerd a peice of land to grow on Not through Landshare though just by asking We keep our bees on a market garden and the owner has told up that we can use the corner of the field that they are on to keep some more chooks and do some veg. There is a very large bed already in and we have an area that we are allowed to put up a new chicken run. It is minutes walk from our house too. We have picked up a new hen house and have got some posts and wire to erect the run. Hoping to get some done this weekend. Will post some piccys when I can of the new run. But for now here are some I rooted out from last year. Our hives are in the corner then the bed that you can see is ours. Its about 28 foot wide by about 125 foot long with a bean pole structure running along the middle. The green patch in front of the hives is where the hen run is going. Its going to be about 30ft long by about 16ft wide. Cant wait to get stuck in. Its a lovley spot.

mrsallen08
Thats great news! We are looking for land / allotment at the moment. Many of our councils allotments are private now and noone seems to know who to speak to for enquiries. I work in a shop in the town and someone mentioned they were buying shorts for digging their allotment and now I have contact numbers and everything I needed! As always, Its not what you know but who you know!
missuscluck
A little update. The hen run is finnished and the chickens are now installed in their new home. We have just intergrated the R-I-R chicks and mum in with her original Light sussex friend without to much drama. The hay-box run inside the main run had the chicks and mum in so they could get to know one another again. This has now been removed untill we have chicks again. Here is a few piccys... missuscluck
Thankyou for reminding me Lesley We did say we were going to put the fencer up but hadnt got round to it yet. Found a bit of an old tile in the run this evening so we are wondering if one of the passing kids might have thrown something at the chooks. Everyone is fine but its slightly worrying.
