Chook n Boo Mum
....make the chooks wash their beaks before drinking ? I've always just rinsed them out & refilled as the main reason mine get grubby is their mucky little digging beaks are dunked into my lovely clean water & I can't stop that! Have you tried a super glug which they drink from the nipple underneath rather than dunking...some chooks don't like this method of drinking though & they are rather an expensive item to have unused at £12.71 plus P&P. Can you borrow one to try before you buy one? I now have 3 (2 raised and 1 down low being used as a glug due to it's position) super glugs plus cage cups & a glug, they do seem to prefer open water, although I hear the nipples being bashed on the super glugs too. Hope this helps, Sha x
stoice
I have the same problem Raina. It has to be close to the ground for the little darlings to drink from it but then it's in the firing line from them rearranging the bedding in their run. By the end of a warm day with poop, bedding and muck dumped in it, it get can get really rank and frothy. Mind you, my climbing jasmine is going great guns from where i tip it all out in my border! The Dogmother
Mine used to wash their feet in it! I use large bunny bottles and a gravity drinker - success!
