Yolky
£1400!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to have a root canal on a back tooth with my (fabby, got me out of my dental phobia) private dentist and it was only £240, and the one on my front tooth I smashed was less than £200! Olly
Crikey! I think I'd look for another quote ... difficult isn't it, because you don't want to shop around on dental care and it doesn't come cheap, but that sounds like an awful lot. Egluntyne
Is it a gold crown that you are having? Ouch indeed.

Chucky Mama
Is it a gold crown that you are having? no not gold, just a bog standard one. It is in a back tooth which has more roots to do. The root canal is £650 and the crown £750. The trouble with shopping around is you have to pay about £60 for each consultation. Plus this dentist came highly recommended by a dental nurse friend. It is the price of a holiday
Chucky Mama
Just spoken to my dental nurse friend. She suggests that I have the £650 root canal with this endodontist as he is fab and then have the crown done elsewhere . She said that she can get me a discount at her place for £
Mrs Webmuppet
I've had similar treatment. I had the endodentist work done by one specialist and then the crown done by my own dentist. The specialist work was £750 ( this did involve best part of 5 hours in the dentist chair, loads of xrays and stuff I don't wish to remember). Then back to my own dentist who filled it and then left it for 6 months to settle before putting a crown on it. The actual crown (a white one) was £100 and the associated dental work came under my ADP Dental Plan ( made me glad I'd taken that plan out!) Guest
This must be for a private quote?? Most NHS dentists do private work too...they are having a laugh. A lot of new dentists are very into cosmetic dentistry now as this is where they can make their money. But you can still get a lot of excellent treatment on the NHS I had a porcealin crown post root canal NHS and it was about £350 the lot. I think the most the NHS can charge for what they can provide is £48 approx. I paid extra for the porcelain white one..that was a lot of ££ to me. But its still going strong but I am lucky my dentist is good and is nhs too My son had all his braces etc on nhs and i have not paid a penny , my friend went private and it cost her a fortune..same result The NHS did have 3 tier pay scale..if your dentist is nhs ask for this as they should have it displayed.... good luck with the treatment
Lesley
It would be cheaper to book a 'Dental Holiday' in somewhere like Hungary! They hold clinics in this country. My son went back with his Hungarian girlfriend and had his root canal work done for £35 ! - at the same time as i paid £300 here for mine!
