This Forum and to do lists don't mix!

Recommended Posts

I have a day off work today, I have 5 friends coming for dinner tonight for a 3 course meal (with different menu choices), my house is a mess.

I got up at 7.30 this morning so I could get a good start on my to do list, which has 37 things I need to do before tonight!!

I thought to myself "I'll just nip on the forum for a bit" and have realised I have lost over 3 hours of my day

I must start working my socks off now, otherwise I'll either have very hungry friends, or friends surrounded by mess!

I still have no motivation to do the housework!

I have however made my starters and desserts for tonight.

I think I need some loud music to get me going, OH will be home in 2 1/2 hrs and he'll have a fit if the house isn't looking presentable.

I am aiming for a 4.30pm finish followed by a nice soak in the bath. I'd ordered some Molton Brown bath stuff which arrived today, so I can have a nice soak with a glass of white wine if I finish in time.

Girls are due at 7.15pm, and usually I am finishing everything by 7pm and rushing in the shower, but thats after arriving home at 4.30 after work. My logic, thats 2 1/2 hrs and I still have nearly that before OH arrives.

Wish me luck!

You are right Sha. Although the menu has to be good, I always give 3 choices for each course starters, mains and desserts and they email me their choices 2 weeks before. I've done this for the last year on the last Friday of every month. And as I have been on Masterchef they do expect a certain standard

It is a simple menu tonight though, most can be prepared in advance! :D

If off to start it Koojie. I'm not usually the Procrastinating type, but there again I'm usually needing to rush at 50 miles per hour

Gosh you know how to make work for yourself don't you  !Do you take a majority decision or make all 3 choices for each course as they are requested? I take it you cook to relax?

At this time of year sausages, salmon and veg & haloumi cheese kebabs constitutes 3 choices to us, all thrown on a bbq which is worked by DH!! Or a pierrade (hot stone which everyone cooks their own) with a selection of meats & salads, with soft fruits, meringues & cream for pudd :drool::drool: then a selection of cheeses etc. We tend to forget starters except in asparagus season, and more elaborate puds tend to be on the "menu" in the winter when I'm more likely to be indoors.

Have a great evening,

Sha x

No no no no no! Is it any wonder that I seem to come up with foody answers in the word association thread when all these goodies are mentioned!!! I know what Debs is doing - you'll have to look at the nutter's threadkiller section! I do like the sound of baking your own on a hot stone - that's great!

Whats the menu Debsi :?: and when were you on Masterchef :?:

I like that programme when it doesn't have 'celebrities' on it :!: ( you're not a celeb are you :?: )

Good luck for tonight!

Jx

Hi Jackie,

The menu is as follows:

Starters

Waldorf Salad (on its own or with smoked salmon)

Mushroom Pate

Main

Breaded Cod

Roast chicken thighs in a garlic and herb marinade

Roasted pepper quiche

(all served with salad and potatoes)

Dessert

Strawberries and Cream

Chocolate Trio

Carrot Cake

I am not a celebrity!! I was on the last series in January, I got chucked off on Day 1 but it was close.

I cook everyones choice, I don't go for the majority. The logic I use is that when you go out to eat you get a choice, and the chefs don't know you or care about you. As I love my friends I can afford them the same respect as they would get in a restuarant and let them have a choice.

I do LOVE cooking though and find it relaxing (that is when I take my time properly, and not rush around like a lunatic because I've been on the forum for way too long! )

Well, off to make my mayonnaise now and I still need to clean the bathroom, although on the surface its looking fairly tidy as OH is due home any minute!
