Willow
I use a 4ft Drop hutch and run similar to this one http://www.the-rabbit-hutch-shop.com/Items/sdh44?&caSKU=sdh44&caTitle=4ft%20Drop%20Hutch%20and%20Run%20With%204%20x%204%20Run . Run and Hutch has additional bubble wrap padding on roof and my husband has covered the mesh at the back and a little of the sides to make the back more sheltered. He added extra treads to the ramp as well. I house 7 quail in here (was 8 but we lost one). Would love to know what others use.
Janty
My 7 quail are in here at the moment inside the WIR. It's 3ft x 5ft. The lovely Tony is building me one of his collapsable runs the same size but 4ft high and with a door to the side so that I can gain better access to them. The Dogmother
A friend keeps a couple of dozen in a walk-in aviary with double doors to stop them escaping. The run is landscaped beautifully with rocks and plants for them to play on and little hides too. You need to be able to access all of the run easily as they tend to lay just anywhere
tom123
My friend just keeps his in a large rabbit hutch and puts them in a small covered rabbit run in the day. They are lovely little things! Happy birthday Janty!!! Tom

Lesley
We keep ours in a 6' high, double door, aviary with a guinea pig hutch in. They can 'Harrier jump jet' to the roof of the aviary! As Clare says - they lay all over the place
The Dogmother
Watch out for them under your feet too, my friend stood on one the other day when it darted under her feet - they move very quickly!
Lesley
This is our set-up.... Double door run next to one of the chicken runs.... We have four in here now - one died last week. We had to add a deep concrete base as rats were treating them as take-aways
Janty
That looks brilliant Lesley. I am trying to persuade Hubby to go for a walk in run for the quailies. He's getting there but as our car died yesterday, I think I may have to wait.
Yolky
Claret could I ask what sort of plants are good for inside a quail run, they would have to be in some sort of pot though as it would have a slab base because of rats/foxes. Thanks
The Dogmother
Most keepers I know plant it up with natural type foliage; grasses and small shrubs. Think moorland and you're on the right track. they like hidey holes too, so clay plant pots on their sides.. all sorts of things. Be prepared to hunt for the eggs though.
