Willow
My boys came back from the village festival with 2 goldfish they are in a convential bowl now but need something more suitable. I like the look of the Biorb aquariums and seems like any type of aquarium is expensive Would like to hear thoughts from anyone who has an aquarium
The Dogmother
I used to have one... brilliant things - very easy to keep, but you need to set it up and let it run for a few days before adding the fish. I know the people who design and manufacture them, and the website is brilliant for advice and downloadable instructions.
julia55
I have a 60 lt globe orb for my tropical fish. I see you can get smaller ones now and they are ideal for a couple of goldfish. Well happy with mine.
victoriabunny
I would say it depends on the type of fish - if you have ordinary goldfish (the usual type given away at fairs - which incidentially I thought was illegal now ) they will grow rapidly and be too big for the Biorb. I've just had to relocate my fish to a pond after they outgrew an 80 litre tank. I'd get the biggest tank you can afford without spending loads of cash, see how they get on and be prepared to rehome them in a pond if necessary. Fancy goldfish like fantails, moors etc don't grow as big and they would be suitable for a Biorb.
Lewis
(... which incidentially I thought was illegal now ) And me! But they were giving goldfish out at the carnival last year, scooping them out of big black dustbins, and there were chavs everywhere with bags of fish. Lydia
Maidenhead Aquatics at Hare Hatch (same site as Wyevale) do a good range of aquariums and are very knowledgable (especially the dishy french guy )

Griffin
We've got the smallest Biorb and discovered early on that it was useless for goldfish. Goldfish just create too much waste for it to cope with and our pair didn't live for long. We were given absolutely rubbish advice in the petshop we bought it from but found the advice from the aquatics department of our nearest Wyevale was superb. I bought a heater for the Biorb and now it houses five Tetras, two Cherry Shrimps, two Congo frogs and a variety of snails very happily It's my daughter Mollys tank and she loves it. Staffordmum
We have 2 BiOrbs and a BiUbe - they're brilliant! Don't be fooled into thinking you have to change those filters quite so often - they're very expensive ... Rgds, Pat & Steve
The Dogmother
You can make them last longer by washing out the sponge and refilling the sieve with loose charcoal.
