Onions - lots and lots of onions

Recommended Posts

Help!!!

we are drowning in a glut of onions

ok, so we have this allotment, and just before chirstmas the local "home an garden barn" has lots of onion sets, so I bought about 5 bags  - well, I didnt know that they would ALL grow did I??

now, I have given hundreds (or so it seems) away, and we still have at least a million left  (cant give any more away - people run when they see me coming  )

does anyone have any super recipes that use tons of onions - something that would last, maybe frozen, or pickled, or something like this.

eagerly awaiting recipes to try :lol:

pickled onions are fab - home made ones blow your head off but they need at least 6 months in the pickle jar. Nearly all chutneys use onions, small ones are fab whole in picallili (sp?) and I LOVE onion marmalade. Failing that they will keep if you keep them dry and dark. Wish I was nearer, mine all flunked - never been good at growing onions!

If you have the feezer space then I would just slice and freeze.......ready chopped onion. :D

When i worked in a cafe on yarmouth pier it was my job to cut up the 25kg sacks of onions that got delivered.....good job i was too young to wear mascara!!!
