"Ready made Camp sites" - do they exist? UPDATED

Recommended Posts

I know Eurocamps that have done this in France for ages are now working with the forestry commision camp sites in the UK so 2009 is the first year euro camps have been operating on a number of UK sites.

Since looking at this thread we will be booking up at Hole Station over the summer too 8) Don't forget to report back and say what you think!

Wow, perhaps I should e mail the owner and get commission for all his new bookings!

We are going on the 24th of July so will let you know.

Did you book the superpitch the same as us? :D

How long are you there for - we arrive on the 27th? :D

Oh, what a shame - we are only there for 2 nights/the weekend. Are you staying on the superpitch? I promise to leave it tidy!!

Check this out

I was particularly taken with

Camp Kerala, Glastonbury Festival, Somerset

Getting too old for the Glastonbury mêlée? Book a stay in a luxurious Maharaja-style tent on this private site overlooking (and very close to) the festival grounds.

Prices for 2010 are not yet confirmed; this year’s three-night festival stay cost £7,000 per tent (for two), including food and drink, beauty treatments and two backstage passes.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Just rented out the super pitch at Hole Station 8) For 4 nights 17th to the 21st August. We'd only e-mailed at 6.45 and he'd e-mailed back within the hour! Great service :D

Fantastic! I will take some photos next weekend and do a much needed research trip to the pub  because of course you will need this vital information wont you?!!

Well we are back from Hole Station.....miss it already :(

Very nice site, although very rustic and natural and totally unspoilt. Surprisingly I really liked it which is very odd seeing as I am a caravanner. Woodland is lovely and even though we had a bit of rain this morning when packing up the trees keep most of it off.

The owner is a very laid back country type chap :D no silly rules given out (like they do on most sites) he showed us around and was happy to chit chat. There are rescue chickens and goats there. Walked to the pub yesterday where the owner stayed open just for us!!! :D

The super pitch is well worth the extra £. We had huge home made covered dining table with rustic benches, crockery, cutlery, pot & pans, water was already there, tea towels, washing up liquid etc.

Despite all the previous rain the camp pitches were not muddy, the pitches are covered in bark chips and the porch areas of the tents are boarded with wood with a couple of chairs (Greg the owner called them "putting on sock chairs").

Every pitch has its own camp fire and your wood is ready every day for collection after 6pm.

Compost toilets :anxious: well they were fine!! - no problems whatsoever and I am really fussy.

Anyone who is going would recommend taking some anti-histamine tablets for the midges as we all got bitten, & some citronella candles.

I've PM'd Poachedegg as she is going tomorrow. :)

Very peaceful & relaxing, so you'll have a lovely time. Walk to the pub also nice along disused railway so no cars and you could do it in flip flops if you wanted as its all tarmac. :D (Take torches if going in the evening) Pub is typically Devonshire - thatched, and tiny/quaint inside with big menu (looked a bit pricey). Large beer garden with room enough for a kick about with a football as we couldn't find anywhere onsite to play with the boys as it was so unspoilt/natural meadowland.

We were supposed to be going tomorrow, unfortunately Ruby the dog hasn't been well for the last week or so, so we weren't willing to put her in kennels as we had planned - meaning unfortunately we had to cancel. :(

So going to have days out instead......if it ever stops raining. :wall:

Thanks for your Ruby wishes - she is eating again now, but still seems a little down. She was on steroids supposedly permanently for a skin condition, however when she went to the vets a couple of weeks ago for her kennel cough injection, the vet said as her skin looked fine to stop the steroids and this is what we think maybe some of the issue.

She has been back on them for the last few days and seems to be making a difference :D, but we had to make a call about the kennels - we were looking forward to it, but it isn't a big deal - DD is just as happy with some days out and time with her folks whilst YS is in Lourdes. :D

Children and animals......great fun......but they don't half worry you sometimes!!:D
