I've not won a yellow eglu, I've won an ORANGE one!

Recommended Posts

After the debacle of the (yellow eglu) that I won from Ebay and then didn't win, I didn't want to temp fate by posting that I won the (orange eglu) which was on Ebay last week. However, I picked it up on Saturday so now feel I can share the good news (and start making plans!)

I'm going to be away for most of the summer, so will not fill the (orange eglu) before September. I think I'd like to go for bantams or pekins, but don't know where to get them from - I'm in Kent.

I know Ben from Hen House Poultry, but he won't have any around September. Does anyone know of a good bantam/pekin breeder in the South East (I'm happy to travel). Can you "pre-order" birds so they'd be ready, or do I just have to chance my luck? Is anybody hatching at the moment and would have some to sell around this time - I can promise a good home!

Also, how many bantams could comfortably fit in the standard eglu run (they'd free range from 5pm onwards mon-fri and all day sat/sun)

All and any advice would be gratefully received.

p.s. if anyone wishes to borrow the (orange eglu) while I'm away - they're more than welcome to.

Well done on your win 8), and congratulations!

I've just purchased some 1-day old chicks from Banbury (North Oxfordshire). It would be a bit of a drive, but the person I got them from raises Lavender and Partridge Pekins, Light Sussex Bantams and Hens. She supplies eggs and birds.

I found them after Griffin gave me this link -> http://www.bestofbreeds.com/countrybreeds/poultry/poultry.htm

There's a number of breeders and suppliers listed in the South East.

There's some pictures of my newly acquired flock here if you'd like to take a peak.

Good luck!

Andrew
