saracook31
Luckily they wanted it all looking nice for the open day so had it all strimmed beforehand. We found out yesterday that the other plots were also taken on sunday, so we got in there just in time. I can't believe we didn't have to wait, with the other field half a mile away having a waiting list of 25! I have some brocolli, cauli and kale plants on the way from defland, which i saw recommended on here somewhere, they do a £13 pack with 4/5 different varieties of each, 2 of plants of each type - 26 plants in total. Hopefully get these in when they arrive. Also had a couple of raspberry bushes which I bought for this summer and have just bought 4 more in a sale for £2.50 each!! When they're finished fruiting I'll transfer them to the lottie, along with some strawberry plants. Anything else anyone can think of for this time of year?! Edited because I'm still half asleep and got all my sums wrong!!
Egluntyne
Congratulations. I agree with Cathy about getting an Azada. Makes very light work of the job.
saracook31
Congratulations. I agree with Cathy about getting an Azada. Makes very light work of the job. Any ideas where I could get one from reasonably cheap? Looked on ebay and on the link above but on quite a tight budget at the mo! Hopefully one of my grandads will come up with one if I can't afford one!!
chickencam
Lovely photos, you have a good sized plot there. Having an allotment is great, hard work at times but so rewarding when the crops come in
Cooks
good luck with it, I think it's a wonderful idea In my village there are only 8 allotment plots..so it's pretty hard to get one..
Valkyrie
That looks a brilliant plot - bit of grass, but no huge weeds. Half the battle sorted. The fun'll begin much quicker.
saracook31
Starting to get somewhere, got some plants in at least which makes all the hard work seem more worthwhile!! Having a bit of a break from digging it over as the ground is now hard as rock! I never thought I'd see the day when I wished it would rain! Our first plants in, been in a few weeks now.. Cauliflowers Kale.. Swede.. Sprouting Brocolli.. Raised beds with Lettuce & Chrysanths in.. Hoping to get enough dug over for some Spring Cabbage and to put in our Strawbs and Raspberries for next year. Aswell as some space to put some Allium bulbs in! Luckily the other half of land not shown in pics is quite nice soil and easier to dig! Anyone know a good website for gooseberry plants?!
