river cottage cook books

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Do any of you have any of these books? I am thinking about having a couple for Christmas but don't know which to choose.

We are a family of 5, and I try to make lots of hidden veggie things for the boys (what they can't see they can't pick out  ) and I am also considering buying half a pig for the freezer so anything that could help me distinguish between the cuts etc would be really useful.

Any advice gratefully received!

Thank you!

Mel

Hi Mel,

I swear by the River Cottage Family Cookbook, & use it an awful lot.

The Spaghetti Bolognese is fantastic,as are the Salmon Fishcakes & Spicy lamb Pie.

It is all pretty simple stuff, but hearty & very tasty too :P

I also have The River Cottage Year, which I use, but its the Family one I fall back on time & time again :P

I'd agree with Sarah. They are my favourites. I've got the Meat book but haven't used it much yet and The River Cottage Cookbook but I prefer the River Cottage Year as it's easier to find the recipes!! The Family Cookbook is one I'm going to get for both my boys too when they leave home as it's full of common sense recipes accompanied by lovely clear photographs.

My Mrs Beeton book has diagrams of half animals for joint recognition, in the 'marketing' section at the front (it is a very old copy from a jumble sale in Yorkshire!)if you have a copy check through it. :D
