Disaster! It turned out to be a Tennis Ball & Spoon Race and here's me been training all these months with a lowly spud :lol: Couldn't control the bloomin' thing. I have requested a dope test on the winner, tests for traces of blue tack on 2nd place and am awaiting a video replay on 3rd for possilbe use of the thumb :lol::lol::lol:

At my daughter's junior school .... oh so many years ago .... SIGH one of the mums and the nanny trained for weeks for the mothers' sprint.The mum used to talk about how many miles they'd done together for heaven's sake :!::!::!:

On the day the teachers changed it to running backwards. :lol::lol::lol::lol:

They fell over and came last :lol::lol::lol:

Moi :?::?::?::roll::roll::roll:

I took the official photos so was exempt from competition :wink:

That is so funny :lol: My first year in the mothers race I was running against a mother that had literally trained all year and turned up in lycra, strapped knees and brand new trainers etc. What she didn't know is that I used to be a serious sprinter and I tipped up with jeans and bare feet. I won by miles, she stomped off and never entered again :lol:

The dad's race is scary, it is a bit like a cavalry charge and someone was quite badly hurt one year as our school field is very uneven. It is quite entertaining secretly betting on who will fall over :lol:

Good for you :wink::wink:

Some people take it so seriously that I think the only way is to make these races into some sort of crazy obstacle that levels the playing field.

I have seen these dads' races and I agree, they can be dangerous.

I went to watch my sisters last sports day on Tues and i agree about the dads race. One dad was in the lead and then tripped over so ended up coming last.

The mum's race was won by a 15year old sister of a pupil. The mum that had won for the past few years was not happy and it was her last sports day as he son is leaving the primary school tomorrow. Its funny seeing which mum's decide to enter, i saw at least 2 mum's who had changed footwear to do the mum's race but saw the competition and decided against it.

The funniest part had to be the toddlers race as it was only supossed to be one side of the track but 3 toddlers ran all the way around the track! It was very cute.

I work at a school that doesn't have a proper sports day - on health and saftety grounds. The head fears "another Hillsborough" :wall::wall::wall: Frankly I've NEVER noticed the kids being that excited!

Was it a comedy sketch or an advert that showed a mother's race where one of the mums stripped off on the start line to her super duper runnig gear :lol:

Anybody know of the link so we can see it?

I thought it was very funny, more so as it's true to life sometimes :D

I never enter the mother's race :eh:
