In the space of a week

 

This time last week I had 5 big beautiful specimens & was planning to use one today in my lovely Ham & Cabbage broth.

 

Just been down to find 3 ravaged beyond repair by caterpillars, despite Enviromesh, & 2 all roting & slimy,due to the weather I think.

 

I don't think I will bother with Brassicas any more as I never have much luck with them - better off sticking to the roots I know I am good at

I have purple sprouting broccoli in pots that need planting out (still ) but they are covered in caterpillars already

My brassicas are the best they've ever been - inside the enviromesh cages. I've left a sacrificial PSB which had gone over and hope that any butterflies will lay their eggs on that and not try to get at the covered plants.

The wasps have been carrying off the caterpillars in my garden.

our brassicas are fab this year on the whole, but we have lost a couple of cabbages to the slugs this last week with all the rain. What happened to the long hot summer we were forecast???
