Jennyhenny
Hi Everyone, Popcorn my Miss Pepperpot was semi broody four weeks ago and was snapped out of it by throwing her off the nest etc, she didnt lay for a week. It is exactly four weeks later and she seems to be doing the same again, she is laying on her egg when shes laid, when I throw her off she growls at me but is then fine tottering around the garden after this. It just seems such a coincidence its only four weeks later. Do you think this will be a regular occurence which obviously I hope not. Love to hear your thoughts. poachedegg
One of our Miss Pepperpots has just been broody for the second time within about 5 weeks - we put her in the dog crate (on bricks) in the run for 3 days and she is fine again now......till the next time! chelsea
My cochins are broody on and off nearly all summer (March-September) so yes it could well possibly be a very regular occurence.
Guest
Hi my speckeldy has been broody(5 weeks) until yesterday as I have barracaded her in puppy panels in the Wir much to her clucking disgust and today I got 3 eggs(out of 5 chickens) I was fed up with her hogging the nest and the final straw was I got only 1 egg yesterday! So I booted her off...but am sure she will be back to her antics again.. Good luck indie
Jennyhenny
Quick Update:- Popcorn was left to freerange yesterday afternoon and was fine she had laid an egg earlier. Today she got up fine, walking round, eating etc., later on she went in so thought she was going to lay an egg, after half an hour I turfed her out when there was no egg there, half an hour later she went in again so I gave her the benefit of the doubt but after half an hour still no egg so I put a plant pot in the nest. Went out to check a little while later and there she was trying to get in with the plant pot I have now shut the eglu door but she keeps looking in the round air holes inside the eglu and trying to climb up the door Presume I just sit it out do I.
