gooner.girl
My white amber star Snowdrop (white with a few browny ginger feathers) started laying this week. So far her eggs have a normal shell colour but lots of tiny white speckles on. Is this normal for white hens or is it just cos shes started laying? On another note her first egg was tiny (approx 40gr) but her second egg was a massive double yolker - our first ever! I was very excited! Guest
I used to have an amber star, ans she laid light brown eggs, with white speckles - it's fine, don't worry about it!
Lindy Loo
My Jasmine lays cream eggs and recently there have been lots of white speckles on them. Also one of mine (not quite sure who) has been laying brown eggs with lots of purple speckles on them. Both are fine and the speckles make the eggs really pretty! The Dogmother
That sounds soo pretty. Just so long as they're not speckles of blood - that can indicate red mite Her eggs will sort themselves out - it's just her egg-laying tackle getting into stride, a bit like when a woman starts her periods - the first few are a bit irregular.
