xScrunchee Posted July 27, 2009 Share Posted July 27, 2009 They really are trying to test my patience!! All three hens have bumper bits on to stop them feather pulling. All three hens have bald bums and manage to pull feathers out despite the bumper bits Recently Jasmine has bald legs and Rose has lost most feathers around her tail and has her preening gland on full show. Today, while hanging their corn on the cobs from the run roof I noticed blood on Rose. It seems that the others (although mainly Jasmine) have been pecking at the new feathers which are growing near to her tail and making them bleed!! I sprayed her with an iodine spray but have no purple spray and the iodine wasn't covering up the blood so I have painted the area with blue food colouring The little madams are driving me up the wall. xScrunchee Posted July 27, 2009 Author Share Posted July 27, 2009 Yep-love 'em to bits I have just had to spray Rose with Anti-pek spray and bitter beak cos Jasmine quite likes the blue feathers and is still pulling them! I haven't got that new one though-well, not yet but will get some if it seems to be working for you as it seems that the 2 I have do not make much difference. Blimin chickens! I must go out there about 40 times aday to make sure they are fine, happy, not bored etc and they still want to eat eachother. But how can you not love them eh? They are just like my kids.
