^^ this is cookie, she is a Merrydale Cuckoo hence the name cookie. we think she emay be laying or quite close because her comb is quite big and red. She pecks Betty and no-name but not Peggy-sue.

^^ this is no-name, she will be named by my son when he gets back from his holiday. She is a Merrydale Sweetie and she really is a sweetie. she gets pecked a bit but doesn't peck anyone else. very inquisitive.

^^This is Betty. She's a Merrydale Blue. She's the biggest of the girls but is bottom in the pecking order, she gets pecked quite a bit by Peggy-sue and cookie but she seems ok.

^^ This is Peggy-sue the top hen. She is very protective over food and her perch. Had a look in the coop earlier and she was hogging the perch, just looking down at everyone else. She has been pecking everyone and I think they are a bit scared of her.

They have settled really well already and are eating out of our hands and are letting us handle them. They all love being on the grass, pecking away. They go mad for corn and no-name seems to love carrot. We think that peggy-sue and cookie may be laying or close to laying because their combs are quite developed.

Will keep you updated on our first eggs and other news =]

Lovely girls, is Peggy Sue a Light Sussex or a Sussex Star? We wanted a Sussex Star as we have a Light Sussex and she is a good layer but a bit big and noisy and not very friendly and we thought a diluted version may be better.

Our Bluebelle is quite big but she is bottom of the heap as well, but has a lovely nature
