xScrunchee
It looks more like a 'pull it out' than a 'push it in' to me but I would leave it until someone on here has had a chance to advise. Strange
Egluntyne
I would separate her from the others at one as they will do some serious damage with their inquisitive beaks. Bathe the area gently and see if you can get a better look at it. It would be a good idea to keep her in a darkened room or shed for a couple of days, and on minimal rations, to slow down her laying. Instead of pellets, give her weetabix and water. I'd have her at the vets tomorrow or Monday if I were you.
Guest
do you think it might be a soft egg shell? i wouldn't push or pull it if you're not sure. I'd take her to the vets as soon as you can, sooner if she starts to show signs of distress.
theherd123
do you think it might be a soft egg shell? I was thinking the same Have you noticed you hen laying a soft egg recently? When was the last time she laid? One of my chooks laid a softy once and the soft shell stuck out of her vent like this but she did pass it eventually. A warm bath did help too. Chucky Mama
It is difficult to tell from a photo but whatever it is I would keep it bathed in saline and as clean and moist as possible just in case it has to go back in - will be difficult if it has got dehydrated. Guest
her poor vent looks like it's been pecked and is swollen, if you have some sudocrem, I'd rub a little bit on.

Egluntyne
A lash is a meat-like object that occasionally is laid. Have a look **here**. Could you give it the gentlest of tweaks to see if it will come away?
Egluntyne
Am glad she has got rid of it. Did you take a photo of it for us to have a look at?

Egluntyne
It looks like a soft shell and membranes. No wonder she is feeling better.
Egluntyne
Making sure that she has a good diet with not to many treats and a calcium supplement such as Zolcal D for a short while might help.
The Dogmother
It looks to me like the membranes of a soft egg - one of my girls sometimes has this hanging out of her vent - I just gently pull it out.
Plum
I was interested today to see my Sparrow had a stalk today like yours Scramble but luckily she had passed it. It was attached to an acorn shaped egg weighing about 10g. It was membrane that had calcified and quite stiff. I should have taken a photo for you. This is one of her more interesting eggs that I think could have ended up with a stalk if one section had broken off. It's always interesting looking in the nest box when she is laying.
