spray tans

Recommended Posts

have any of had one and was it a success. I am off to Spain next week and being married to a Greek with 2 children who have inherited his swathiness (sp) i dont wish to look white. I am typical Anglo Saxon and high risk of malignant melanoma and usually plaster myself in Dove with a hint of something which gives me a glow  but want something a bit longer lasting. I also read it takes 10lbs off you so brown flab is better than white  any feedback would be great.

you could try a salon spray tan, were someone sprays you (i think there are room ones where the machine sprays you but never tried one) I did this for my friends wedding and it was a good colour. The best home one I have used is Ambre Solaire no streaks bronzer, you get a separate one for your face and body. I used it once and a girl in the office who was away thought I had been away when she came back as I had my tan, I don't like the other ones as much as they seem to streak or look a bit orange

Ah then yes, I have had two (one as a tester before the wedding so had it done for the hen night and one for the wedding). My only issue was the first time when i got home and bent over i realised there were two white patches at the top of the back of my legs, when I had the second one I told her about that and she made sure it didnt happen again so I would suggest that while you are drying (they leave you alone in a room to dry off lol) check yourself in the mirror to make sure no bits were missed though to be honest I doubt that happens a lot.

I am very pale, and had a St Tropez spray done at a salon as a trial before I got married. It looked fantastic for the first few days. I followed all the pre-spray exfoliation rules and followed all the bathing rules afterwards, but it started coming off in a mottled way, not evenly, so after another couple of days, I ended up looking not dissimilar to a leopard!!

I could have played an alien on any TV show

Needless to say, I went "au Natural" for my wedding

I had one at Christmas and have booked for another next month for a friends' wedding :D

Can't recommend 'em enough. The salon assistant should help you choose the correct shade etc., as previously mentioned.

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding - you lucky girl!

Rgds,

Pat

I had a St Tropez tan done as I was going to stay at a posh country house that had a pool and a jacuzzi. On the first night looking lovely and I brown I sat in the jacuzzi sipping champagne and had a lovely time until I came out when I was white from the neck down!

I know that it is not nice to giggle at that but I couldn't help myself!! Sorry

I have had a couple of St Tropez sprays. They were ok. The only problem was that I was going to Portugal with some girlfriends for the weekend. One of my friends goes a lovely colour and she was getting more tanned as I was getting more white

I just don't understand these. I'm sure your skin is lovely - it works, it keeps your innards in, has a lovely milky hue, and it's you! All fake tans look a bit orange and smell funny. The things we do to 'fit in'! I say be proud of who you are and to hell with paying out a small fortune, risking runs and tangerine hands and feet and walking around like a cowboy for two hours smelling like a cross between a wet tent and a coconut!

I'm not prepared to die for a tan ie risk any of my million freckles etc become malignant and am shocked at some skin damage I see on middleaged women and crepey skin too :vom: Is'pose I just want to look healthy and use that Dove lotion which gives me a glow. I too giggled at the story about the jacuzzi washing someones tan off. My friends jack Russell licks my ankles which drives me insane as it tickles and I think she likes the taste of the lotion. as soon as i'm in the door shes licking away and I'm leaping around like a Morris dancer  not sure what'll I'll do yet

Ambre Solaire do a really nice anti-sun spray at SPF 30 which isn't sticky and evil like lotions. A hippy recommended it to me a few years back while camping. I'm a paleface and hate the ick factor of sun protection. It's really good. I hate having to wear anything so all-covering, but it's that or skin cancer.

Those 'healthy glow' lotions which build up a 'natural' tan are doing something to the top layer of your skin cells and faffing with the pigment. I can't see how they're healthy or that there's been anywhere near enough research to prove their safety. Given all the stuff about parabens and deodorants causing cancer, I really do wonder about the sanity of covering the skin in chemicals which paint or physically alter the make-up of the top layer of skin. And for what? To look a bit darker. Seems a bit barmy to me. :)
