Hi all,

 

The eggs are due to hatch either Tomorrow or Tuesday (been told 18 - 19 days hatch time)

 

So What is the Maximum time i should keep any un-hatched eggs in the bator?

I've no idea what the recommended time is but I have heard that some bantam eggs can still take 21 days then I would add a few just in case. If it was me I would leave them till next Sunday but then I am cautious! others might not leave them so long.

I thought you had to alter the humidty levels or something else for eggs due to hatch soon so wouldn't be able to put them all in the same one I could have got the wrong end of the stick though when my firend was telling me about her inci.

The new ones will be fine for a few days just put something under one end of the box and move it to the other side regularly so the eggs get 'turned'

I'd leave them in for a fair few days, I think our 1st chick hatched on Tuesday and the last one on Sunday There was a 2 day delay in setting the second lot of eggs though.

I would let the first lot hatch and I would then give the incubator a good clean and wipe over with an appropriate disinfectant before putting the new eggs in, if I were doing it.

 

All that heat and humidity is bound to have got a few bacteria thriving.

 

You can store the next lot of eggs for a few days, pointy end down.

 

Have you thought about a second brooder? Your first chicks will still be needing it when the second lot hatch, and the older ones will marmalise the younger ones if you put them in together.

1's a rabbit hutch and the other is a ferret cage
