milwichchickenlover
Good old Christmas! Just returned from holidays and always think about which set of parents to invite round for Christmas Day. My mum doesn't get on with my mother in law so hence not good to invite both sets round. Doesn't matter whose turn it is one set of parents gets the umph when it's not their turn! My perfect Christmas would be everyone to leave us alone and my hubbie and darling children could spend the day on our own doing what we want instead of me being stuck in the kitchen all day making sure everyone is fed and watered. Or even better an invite to my sisters for Christmas Day would be good - but I have the largest house and my sister can't cook! One day I'll get the Christmas I want. I just have to be brave enough to put my foot down and say enough is enough!!

Holly x That's because you are 10 Holly , Christmas is great, it's the advertising frenzy and the family politics which spoil it Sha x
BeckyBoo
I've got a family political minefield to negotiate this year - first Christmas since Mr Bertie left - where do the children go, who do they see first OMG, it could be a nightmare! BUT, no in-laws for Christmas and no in-laws to go and see on Boxing Day!! That said, I like the "big family" thing so it could all be a bit strange, and in any case, I may have to work some of it although I will stamp my feet and have a paddy if they try and make me work Christmas Day Whatever, the main part of my Christmas will be here, with my kids, probably Mum and Dad and at some stage the children will go to their Dads leaving me feeling somewhat strange I imagine! Chook n Boo Mum
and at some stage the children will go to their Dads leaving me feeling somewhat strange I imagine! BeckyBoo BeckyBoo, DH's brood from his previous life traditionally come to us on Boxing Day when we go to his side of the family....madam has always had them on Christmas Day which is when we go to my family. Last year we "broke the mould" to a degree in that we didn't stay with my mum & dad for the first time...they only live 4 miles down the road ....as my sis and DH don't exactly see eye to eye, sis decreed that my dogs were not welcome & he stood his ground saying that he wanted the children to wake up in their own beds not camp beds at Nanny's on Christmas morning....I was sad about this as I always woke up at my Nanny's on Christmas Day Ideally slipping off to a remote island with just my dogs, chooks & any family who don't have an axe to grind would be good......like that's going to happen Just go with the flow BB, & try not to get upset with however it pans out....the children don't complain at having 2 Christmas Days Sha x
