I think delivery can depend times can depend on whether you are in the delievery area for Omlet van or not.

 

I am in the area but as i didn`t get chooks they sent it by courier and i got it two weeks earlier than if I waited for the Omlet man.

They're supposed to ring to arrange delivery so I'll find out soon enough, just have to be patient.

 

As for colour, if it were me it would have been a difficult choice between lairy orange or bright purple, but DH decided we should have a red one. I thought it would be nice to let him be right for a change.

You said you don't know whether to get 4 or 6 ex batts, are you getting the standard run with your cube or are you extending it?

 

If you are getting the standard run, personally I would only get 4 hens, 6 would be too much of a squeeze IMO.

Cube + run + extension, should be enough room for 6? It's just that we've never had birds before and we're still undecided whether to start small and then have to do intros, or jump in with both feet and start with more...

 

... or is there not much difference between having 4 and 6 anyway?!

I would say the more space you can give them the better

 

I didn`t notice the difference when I moved to six from four.

 

I am noticing a difference now that I have 14 (but this is cos they are spread over three houses as we are still in introduction stages)

i say- scrab the run and build a walk in one with the cube inside- saves the hassle later when your addicted and want lots and lots!
