jkl
Well its been 6 days and the girls are getting on alot better than I expected. Old chooks now only occasionally peck at new chooks and never big pecks. They still free range in pairs but the old chooks (Mo and Dora) will now allow the new chooks (Biggles and Ginge) to be near them when free ranging and most of the time when in WIR. They sleep together in the Eglu alright although Mo and Dora look abit put out when they see the new chooks are in the Eglu first. Mo was very loud and vocal on the first night when she saw them in the Eglu and it took her ages to go to bed herself. Food sharing is OK as there are 2 feeding points and they seem to manage with 1 Glug. anyway here's a couple of piccys Girls realizing a camera is out decide to pull moonies (Conner the dog watching them in background) pecking at corn together (Mo is in the courgette patch eating some random weeds) cheers

Tessa the Duchess
That is really encouraging for day 6 I am on day 21 of introductions which is roughly when peace should break out. To be honest I haven't had any argy bargy, well nothing to worry about. A bit of chasing and very half hearted pecking, but now they happily freerange together but still in two distinct flocks. I still have my WIR divided because I'm not sure about the early mornings and they still sleep separately, the new girls in an old rabbit hutch, but all in all I am extremely relieved that it has all gone so smoothly. I put off getting new hens for over a year because I was terrified of introductions having read so many horror stories on the forum, but fingers crossed it has been a piece of cake I hope it goes as smoothly for you Tessa
