All ready to start - update they're hatching & photos

Recommended Posts

Just a quick update I now have 10 healthy hatched chicks and the other two eggs have both pipped! So whether the last two make it out of the shells we are yet to see, but 100% fertility :dance:

So I can be extremely positive about Poulet Anglaise's hatching eggs by courier - they are currently getting a 90% fertility rate with many years experience and commercial size incubators - so I am very impressed to get 100% fertility at my first go. I can also report extremely positive things about the R-Com 20 pro - it was as simple as fill the water container and press go - I didn't candle or open the lid once in 3 weeks, just left the eggs/machine to get on with it.

These are table breeds and they are to be raised at meat birds. I had thought if I get 50% I will be happy, if I get 9-10 over the moon. Now I just need to re-think housing for 10-12 when they get bigger!

I suspect that was the key to your success. Leaving it well alone meant all the conditions inside were as close to perfect as you could ever expect for the full 21 days. As a result, 100% hatch rate.

Well done .

Well the final count is 11 healthy chicks are now in the brooder - the 12th hadn't actually pipped, it was a mark on the egg from one of the others that had hatched! I have now examined the 12th egg and whilst it was fertile from its stage of development I would say it probably died at about 14-16 days.

So I am very happy, 100% fertitlity and 92% successful hatching.

Just for info the brooder lamp has now been moved up slightly - the circle formation of chicks shown in these photos i.e. none directly under the heat lamp and not sitting together is a sign that it was too hot, so temperature reduced by raising heat source.
