I am so cross with Travelodge

Recommended Posts

On Friday, I opened up my e-mails to find 3 from Travelodge to my husband confirming the booking of 2 rooms at the Covent Garden branch for the previous night.

Funny that. My husband and I were at home watching TV that night.

Phone calls to the Covent garden TL and someone at central booking confirmed that yes, someone with my husband's name had booked in on the 3rd September, using my husband's credit card details and my phone number.

I was told to send an e-mail to customer servicees, which would generate a TL number and somebody would call back to discuss the matter with us. That was Friday. Still no call.

I spoke to another human being at Travel Lodge today who informed me that customer services could be contacted via e-mail or snail mail only and that they will contact me soon.

Sent ANOTHER e-mail to them and I'm still waiting.................

Has anyone else had problems with this company?

I would cancel your card pronto, and tell your credit card company what has happened. Don't wait for TL to get back to you.

It won't take long for a new card to come through, and you will find it easier to challenge this or any other transactions that may have gone through your account in error and get the money back. You may also need to log this at your local police station, and get an incident number

If TL don't do anything, you will need to initiate a chargeback with your bank (as an un-authorised fraudulent customer not-present transaction).

Have I ever had this problem? Nooooo, never!! :liar:

Sorry. Thanks for your advice everyone.

My husband did contact the credit card company on Friday and they told him that the transaction had not yet appeared on their system and until it did, they couldn't do anything about it.

I'll get him to phone again tonight to see if there have been any developments.

What would I do without the forum!!

Thank you Chucky Mama for your advice. OH has just been onto the credit card company and although ther has only been that one transaction, the B************ who made the transaction changed the address on BOTH my OH's cards and added another person to them!

The fraud squad is dealing with it now, but I am a bit concerned that is might be identy theft as well as cloning.

Oh dear, I thought as much. If you haven't already done so you need to make sure that there are no payments that you didn't know about on your statement NOW.Look out for Laptops, Playstations, Hotels & Designer Clothes. Also make sure that no one has applied for a credit card in your name in the last few weeks. I think the company that we used was here:http://www.experian.co.uk/experianhome/?sc=410006&bcd=googlsearchlp1110609

These guys can get a card in your name delivered to another address! Don't ask me why that loophole hasn't been closed :? Things can go quite quickly so don't hang around. We have had 2 cards cloned and a further one is being investigated. I know that 1 card had details taken when it was used to book a bowling lane online, Someone hacked the site and put up a blank page as they tookdetails. The other time I think it was cloned when someone took the card in a restuarant out of sight for payment (I never let cards out of sight now) and I think they took the rest of the info they needed from a social networking site :( The most annoying thing was that we had their address and knew the day the laptop they ordered was being delivered but the police didn't want to know (only 300yds from the police station!)

it is awful people feel the need to take other peoples money grrr. I was just going to sign up for Experian credit report, and was wondering if anyone else has done this. If so, did you need to give credit card details? We've had money taken from our business account, which we are still trying to get sorted. 8 weeks and counting. There seem to be no accountability for the thief on the online banks staff who has taken the money. So our problem has happened not by us being negligent with our bank card, pin or paperwork (as was the assumption of the people at the bank).

We used it the first time that we were hit, they picked up 1 credit card application in our name so it was worth it. They do contact us from time to time with possible fraud queries but they have always so far been legit. My OH's business card has just been used for a couple of bogus transactions but the card was stopped by the bank that were suspicious. I made a purchase for £170 on Amazon using my business card 2 weeks ago and the bank flagged it as unusual spending and froze the card  I found out when I was stood trying to pay for a trolley load of stuff in the Cash & Carry - 'sorry card declined':? You should get your money back but you may have to give them a not so gently nudge every now and then.

Huh, that's only half the story. It turns out that there were two transactions, The first for £800, which put me into overdraft so the bank kindly gave me an automatic £750 OD facility without asking me if I wanted one (I didn't) as I had been such an excellent customer all these years :angel::angel: . This was promptly emptied half an hour later.

It beggars belief.:doh: Did I tear them off a strip. I must admit, however that the speed of their action subsequently was excellent. They even sent a very expensive bunch of flowers from ................ Marks and spencer

They have put their act together now thank heavens and I get the best attention :D
