I was rather alarmed yesterday when I noticed the run has started to go rusty.

 

I have only had the and run since the middle of June not even 3 months. If it is like this now I am worried it will be rusted through by christmas.

 

What experiences has everyone else had. Do they just go completely rusty but keep their strength. I have to say for the price i paid I expected better. I have had some old galvanized mesh on one of my horse gates for years and it has less rust! At the moment it is worse where the joints are but is spreading along the bars too. Its been dry and sunny most of the time since I had it how will it cope with constant damp in the winter?

My foot thingies have gone a bit rusty but the rest seems ok.

I've had my eglu run for 2 years and the only rust I've noticed is where the plastic has been rubbed off (through my doing). I wouldn't have said yours should be that bad that soon .

 

Can you post a photo of it so we can compare?

Occasionally if a bit of the plastic coating has chipped off, you might get a bit of rust but as I recall the run is manufactured in such a way that it should only happen where there's a chip, generally it should not rust.

 

I'd give Omlet a call and explain what's happened, it definitely shouldn't rust within 3 months, or indeed at all. They may want to see a picture as well.

I am sure someone posted a few months ago regarding a new cube run end panel they had bought that was missing the coating on some of the joints - perhaps Omlet had one or two that were not dipped properly?

Mine has lots of spots of rust on it. I can understand it where I have worn the plastic coating but am a bit concerned about other areas. I'm going to put dabs on paint on to protect it.

Not that its any consolation bt my Eglu run has a fair bit of rust but is still completely solid and sturdy

My rablu has rust on the door panel where the buns chew at it sometimes.

 

If it's new, I'd call them up for a replacement as it certainly shouldn't be rusty in that short space of time. My cube run support arches have the odd bit of rust on them, but nothing to worry about.
