Griffin
I'm confused by our little black Pekin, Custard. I would've said Custard was a girl judging by behaviour but those red wattles are giving me cause for concern S/he is almost seven weeks old. While I had the camera out I took photos of Custards chums too Sausage Salmon Faverolle: Nymphadora who looks as if she's been to the hairdressers secretly to have highlights put it, she's not 100% black and has rusty coloured highlights I'm not entirely convinced she isn't a he either: Nelly who looks like a girl which I'm pleased about because our other blue Silkie is a boy: And lastly, our little accident in the pillow factory, Hob"Ooops, word censored!" Thankfully she's a girl so we get to keep her for sheer entertainment value
Falkor
She looks like a girls to me but I am no expert. I saw some 8 weeker pekins last week and the boy had very red comb and wattles but the girls had none. My 11 week old Cuckoo pekins have no comb/wattles at all either. ASTW posted some pics of pekins at five weeks and the boys were very obvious viewtopic.php?f=61&t=49809 Hope this helps. Love the others too! Redwing
I'd say she is a girl too, one of mine was exactly the same with tiny red wattles Boys are very obvious by that age I do like your salmon fav, she is so pretty
Griffin
Thank you That's brilliant news. I'm very pleased with the Faverolle, she's coming along really well. It's weird because she came from the same breeder as Lamb Chop yet LC has just one feather on each leg and no beard or muffling. I keep hoping she'll suddenly start sprouting these extra feathers but doesn't seem to be yet Sausage is clearly developing as she should. I prefer LC's colouring though, both have stunning pale blue eyes but I expect they'll change. They're very sweet natured, quieter even than the Silkies and shy like the Brahmas. Lamb Chop is joined at the hip to the growers she shares a coop with and they move around the garden as a little group. If she loses them she calls until she finds them again. She's not the sharpest tool in the box and often I hear her calling and have to go outside to help her find her friends again She's the one that was born with a splayed leg. She still walks with a bit of a limp, bless her socks.
