xScrunchee
Seems like a strange question but I am wondering if anyone can actually hear the fox watch? I only ask because I am considering buying one but am worried that my daughter might be able to hear it. My brother has got annoying high pitch sounds on his mobile phone-a couple of them are not supposed to be audible to humans yet my daughter can always hear it and she hates it. (Yes-she is human by the way ) I cannot hear it but every time my brother does it on his phone she hears it straight away. He didn't believe her at first so kept trying to trick her but in the end had to admit that she can definitely hear it. I now wonder if she would be able to hear the fox watch Maybe I should get it anyway and if it does drive her mad I will return it within the 90 days?? Gelbel
I have one - I can't hear it but when the light comes on I can hear a little click if I am in close range. It says in the user bit of paper that comes with it that the speaker may be heard to click.
sjp
I had one of the sonic ones for a cat deterrent that I could hear horrible high pitch whistle had to dump it in the end didn't deter the cats for a second
Olly
I can't hear Foxwatch - you do hear a click, but I can't hear the high-pitched sound. Children can usually hear sounds that adults can't perceive, so it's possible she could hear it but unlikely I'd have thought - only one way to find out! Patricia W
How old is she? There is evidence that teenagers can hear frequencies that oldies can't. That's the basis of the "mosquito" machine that some councils are using to deter young people from gathering in anti-social groups. But it's quite controversial. I doubt that the foxwatch is using these frequencies - but best thing is ask them. Tricia
xScrunchee
Thanks all She has just turned 10 I'm sure it will be fine anyway but just to test it out, when I order it (probably next month) I am not going to mention the fact that it emits a high frequency sound to her and see what happens. Hopefully it won't affect her as I am getting seriously fed up of fox poo
Egluntyne
I hear the clicking, but it is very quiet.
Gelbel
I hear the clicking, but it is very quiet. Because of this and my reply above I went and checked the sound on mine last night. I had to change to battery; it was working in the morning when I attended to the girls but had obviously konked out over the day - so thanks for bringing to my attention. The click is so much louder with a fresh battery!
cockadoodle1
Can dogs react to foxwatch. My next door neighbour is worried that it will affect poor little pooch's ears. I told she will know if it does because he will run around with his paws over his ears
fluffyknickers
I have a similar thing to fox watch that deters foxes and cats. The dog doesnt seem fussed by it. It always seemed to work to me then last night I went out the garden to shut the girls up and I head a bell noise then realised it was a beighbours cat running away! So seems that she has got used to it but hoping she wont take to poo-ing anymore now we have the dog. michelle
sandyhas3chucks
you are NOT supposed to hear it, I had a faulty one and returned it, the souynd drove me mad, a bloke at primrose said it ws normal, it isn't. manfacturers replaced it. I have had 30 odd different ages sexes breeds and not one dog takes any notice although manufacturers say they should, my 2nd one is back with them too due to machine gun firing sound when triggered I would like everyone to know that apparently it hasn't been tested on foxes much, despite their claims, Apart from all you uys out there! I local wildlife rehab place is hoping to do some proper tests soon. I will let you know!
Clare L
We have two fox watches and both my husband and I can hear both the click and the high pitched sound from both units, but only it is REALLY quiet in the garden. It is a really quiet noise, and is not annoying, just sometimes we hear it. It is never very quiet, so dont hear it often. Not enough of a noise to think about sending them back, and my kids dont mention the noise, if they hear it at all.
