My little boy's all grown up

Recommended Posts

Presenting: Charles. He is 18 weeks old and had his first afternoon ranging with the big girls today. He had been out about an hour, when ...... daisy did a lovely crouch for him and he did the deed!!! I was so proud! (OH was mortified :lol: ). Do you think he is a cream legbar?? We are hoping to be able to keep him.

Here we have Angus (according to me) and Morag (according to OH). I have given up hope, Morag is not a girl is she? I have been watching that tail grow and grow. It looks like out of our 4 kids, we have 3 boys

how times have changed since he used to sit on your head, HEN!

Now he's all growed up and having sex..... ahhhh.

He still remembers all those cuddles with his mums when he was teeny. He creates a fuss about being caught, but then as soon as he's in my arms, he closes his eyes and snuggles in :D .

Angus must have read this thread and the question over his gender, although he still hasn't crowed, he has done the 'grown up boys deed' with a Betty!!

Any thoughts on Charles's breed anybody? DO you think he is a cream legbar lad?

having met you both and seen your different personalities I can picture the scene exactly!

He is a lovely cockerel and certainly looks like he is a cream legbar or has a high percentage of one in his make up

Angus is a pretty little thing, very elegant and not a feather out of place - a dapper gent!

He certainly looks a bit legbar to me HEN. What lovely boys.

If they have enough wives to share and get on OK, then you should be able to keep both, but watch out for fighting, or a 'popular wife' being singled out for *ahem* 'attention'.

so do cockerels have a favourite hen then? is that common? i knew mine did! thats interesting.

ooo thanks claret ill have to keep an eye on that. he definately pesters one more than any of the others even though he has 6 to choose from!

its the hen he was with when i got him so maybe as he's known her longer, she's favourite

luckily for everyone he's not too much of a randy pest, mornings is worse but he tends to leave them alone for fairly long periods during the day.

is the mounting a dominance thing as well, as he also does his little dance to them and opens his wings like he's angry? when smokie had the chick she did it back to him!
