4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

My arancuna bantam had a small bald patch at the lower back/base of tail which has been rapidly increasing in size. She is still laying eggs and seems happy otherwise. The skin underneath is not red at all, in fact it is fairly white in colour, but nevertheless, spreading in size. I do not see any evidence of red mite?.

 

Can anyone throw any light as to what is causing this. She is about a year old.

Its possible she could be moulting, all my girls look pretty scruffy/balding in places too...

 

Do you have a cockeral? Just thinking that another reason for a bare lower back could be, ahem, his amourous nature?!

Given the time of year, I'd hedge a bet that she is moulting.

The cockerel explanation was my first thought! Phillipa had a similar bald patch which has just feathered up. She has stopped laying so Phillip's no longer interested ( fickle male) I will be getting saddles for the girls next season ( in fetching colours of course!)
