Has anyone else noticed lately that the number of scammers and con-artists on eBay is on the rise? I've just had to file my FIFTH non-receipt claim with paypal in six months. I'm fuming. I've been de-cluttering the house, and dividing things between the bucket, charity shops, freecycle and eBay, then using any proceeds from eBay sales to start Christmas shopping for stocking fillers. I wouldn't mind, as I've always received a refund eventually, but hanging about means you end up missing out on other things you want to buy, as I refuse to dip into my bank account for eBay purchases, and just spend what I gain from sales.

I've stopped selling on ebay (run out of stuff! ) but I still buy. I've had more and more delayed arrivals or even just non communication! (luckily before I've paid )

I've just bought a chest freezer on buy it now, but asked the seller to send me an invoice so I could pay and confirm when and where I could collect from. It's 4 days now and I've heard nothing at all, despite asking twice Whats going on here then?

They have also changed the pics - there is only the small image now and although you get the option to enlarge, it often doesn't improve the quality. Not very reassuring when trying to get a good look at something.

I have bought 2 coops off ebay, and so far so good,on the other hand,my daughter has sent for a ticket to see PINK which cost her £120 and she still hasn't had it, and the seller is saying that they haven't got it yet themselves? Surely that type of thing shouldn't be allowed?How can people advertise things when they haven't got them in their possession?

The ebay rules say that you can sell an item you dont have (yet) as long as you send it to the buyer within 30 days.

Also gig tickets are now sent very near to the date - within a week or so.

Its very standard with tickets - you don't get them until a week or two before the event. This year some people with V Festival tickets (quite a lot of them actually) NEVER got their tickets - there was a special booth set up there for ticket collect so I have NO IDEA how that worked with Ebay sales.

 

Saying that I've bought next years V Festival "insurance" tickets already. I know I will only want to go one day but I really wanna VIP ticket again - which is gonna cost more. So the pair of Red camping tickets I bought one the early release will be Ebay bound to cover that extra cost.

 

Tickets are fully sellable, but you can win and lose some. My best profits were accidental - when I bunged on some tickets for a Gig I couldn't make and sold them for 10x their face value! I usually just sell single tickets though as I tend to buy two in the ridiculous hope I will one day find a friend to go with - then sell the spare one.

 

Sold one once to a guy, who collected - and paid about 3x face value. He said when he collected that he was buying it for his wife as they had standing tickets and she was moaning that she wanted to sit. He said "who knows, she might change her mind". She must have as the seat remained empty!

ok, so don't feel too worried then, she paid for them in June, but I don't actually know when the concert is, so there's probably still time yet. Apparently the seller has 100% feedback so should be ok.

Yeah don't worry - its a funny business ticket sales. Ebay STATE its against their policy to sell tickets that you won't have "in hand" within 30 days. The problem being that you sell them so far in advance that your transaction is outside the time limit for making a claim if things do go wrong. BUT EBAY then made that fantastic gesture of PROMISING that everyone who bought MJ tickets would get their money back - even though they were outside their own limit. They made sure they we gave the money back by freezing our paypal accounts until we paid it!!!! That meant that many people had to give the refund before they recieved the refund themselves or they couldn't do any business on Ebay.

 

My buyer was happy to wait - she knew she would get a refund practically as soon as she heard MJ was dead - she got up, heard the news and found I had already emailed her promising the refund! I'm glad she didn't take up my offer of having the commemorative ticket instead as goodness knows how we would have every got my paypal account unfrozen without me giving the refund!

Has anyone else had a problem with having their bank account removed because it is a joint account but only one name is registered on ebay?. Hsbc refused a payment of £1.72 because they had a query on the DD which we think is because OH only had his name on the account on ebay but it is a joint account and we have operated it like this for 6 years. We think that there has been a security review but as a result Paypal have removed the account so we are having to go through the small deposits thing to validate the account again
