Is it too early to put the winter shade on??

Recommended Posts

I only picked up my girls yesterday but had set the (cube green) with the winter shade thingy on as I'd read so many horror stories of them not knowing what rain was and worst, hearing how ill it could make the birds if they got wet.

So, this is bound to be a stupid newbie question (apologies in advance) but if the run doesnt have any form of shelter on it, how on earth do you cope with dashing in and out of the house to get the girls back into the (cube green).

On some days of the week, my girls will be at home in their run on their own so if it chucks it down during the day they'll get wet.

I suppose they could get under the (cube green) but that's not really an option if they don't know how to shelter.

This morning I opened the door and although 4 have come out, 2 have stayed inside. The heavens look very threatening so I've put some additional covering, just some large sheets of polythene pegged down to keep them dry.

Forgive me for being a dope but how do you all manage?

If you have the shade or some other cover on you can sit in the run with a cup of coffee and enjoy the rain and the bedding stays dry. :D I use the normal shade then ikea shower curtains over and the sides up or down depending on wind direction etc., :D

ha ha, yes, I suppose it is funny watching people try to fit the entire contents of their new apartment into a drop top BMW!

Seriously though, I hate going there and indeed havent been for years and years. I suppose the eglu is the sort of thing that one could buy at IKEA though - it's got that look about it! :D

Anyway, thanks for the tip about the shower curtain. Went down to B&Q and saw two that had been reduced to £4 something because the packaging was wrecked. I've fixed it on for now, it's raining here at the moment but need one of those little thingys to make litle holes, forget what they're called, you know what I mean.

Had a boiled egg and soldiers for lunch, delicious, I could get used to this!

Only 2 more years before I can retire.........oh, the good life beckons
