Chook n Boo Mum
It's been a long time since I've posted piccies of my homegrown babies, AKA the Bufflings ('cos their mum is called Buffie for those who don't know ) so here we go............ Pansy can't believe what a grub her brother Mr Yellow Legs is... especially as Mr White Back is so clean............ Mr Yellow Legs doesn't care though, as he can escape from their pen & go for a walk on his own...naughty boy , especially given that Auntie Snowdrop is not the friendliest of chooks & will have a go if she catches him ...which Pansy will vouch for I have a home sorted for one of the boys, with a mum at school who needs to introduce new blood into her flock, but the other home I had sorted has changed her mind & doesn't want him anymore . I was thinking...as you do when a quandry hits ....I'm going to ask her if she will take all 3 & put Pansy in with her cockerel & 2 other unrelated hens, then either run both of my boys with the rest of her girls, or have one with her other related boys for the freezer.......not sure what her thoughts would be on that idea, I can but ask ...I know I will miss them horribly as they were my first brood, we'll see she could say no way in which case I have a boy & a girl to integrate with stroppy pants (Snowdrop) and the other chooks & keep reminding Mr Yellow Legs that his time will be shortened greatly if he opens his beak I'm much closer to Mr Yellow Legs as he is the cheeky monster who used to and still does if given the chance, flap up & sit on me...he used to do it to steal his mum's food, now he does it to see what I may have in my hand....greedy little tinker Decisions decisions!! Chook n Boo Mum
And absolutely impossible to get all 3 into a picture at the same time......no change there then, the only time I ever managed to get them photographed together was when they are filling their greedy little beaks or curled up in bed with mum ...except maybe this one.......... ***deep sigh*** why do they have to grow up & get all teenagerish (the boys are practising bouncing off each others chests with Pansy deliberately ignoring them ) Sha x

Lewis
Great photos I like the last one of Mr Yellow Legs. Whats the easy way to sex Light Sussex's? Lewis is thinking they'd be good duel purpose to hatch in school
Griffin
It's their combs. I can tell from about a week or so just on comb growth. I've not been wrong so far with any of my Sussexes or anyone elses If only I could be so good with my Silkies I still haven't a clue what my nine week olds are
cluckingmad
Aha, so, Griffin - you're the sussex expert then Is it just light's or are you as good with the other sussexes...? Mental note - once I start hatching must contact Griffin to see if I have boys or girls...
