Please help - soaking wet chickens!!

Recommended Posts

Having had the girls only a couple of months, we have been very fortunate with the weather...up until today.

I've come home from work to find that they are absolutely soaking wet

Despite having covered 1/3 of their run with plastic sheeting (I know not the most ideal and waterproof) it would seem that they have chosen to sit in the rain!!! :(

As it's nearly bed time, i'm concerned if I should let them go into the (blue eglu) in such a wet condition.... will they catch a cold? They already have the sniffles.

I would like to bring them into the kitchen and dry them off (by the Aga with a towel perhaps) but my OH says I worry too much.

Please help?!?!

Thank you :D

By the time I had returned the lost black labrador puppy found in my garden, the girls had put themselves to bed. Fingers crossed they dry off and don't get poorly!!!

- OH is right, I do worry too much!!! Just as well I don't have 'real' children!! lol

Our two went to bed yesterday soaking wet and when they came down this morning they were all dry and fluffy. I was lucky enough to get near to one of them this morning and I am sure they smelt "towel fresh".

I do worry when it rains and I think it is just me that doesn't llike them going out in the rain, but they just love it.

I had the very same panic when my chickens first got soaked! Especially as I'm used to looking after rodents and dogs who shouldn't really go to bed wet!

I phoned a friend who is a seasoned chicken keeper & she basically told me to stop panicking (but in a nice way!).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had this worry!

I hope the girls were dry in the morning.
