Is this a moult?

Recommended Posts

My bluebelle has had a bit of a bald neck for a while but I haven't seen her being bullied. She's now lost a lot of feathers from her chest plumage and is looking greasy and ratty.

Is it a bit cold and late for a moult? They're all about 18 months old and the others look healthy and fully feathered.

Is this normal or possibly diseasy?

Perfect timing for a moult - my best layer are doing porcupine impressions right now.

I always wonder why they wait til the weather cools down, but then when you see their glossy new clothes in time for the really bad weather, you realise it does make sense afterall.

i think 2 of mine are moulting too. ebony has a bald head and has done for a while now with no sign of feathers growing back, she looks very odd  she also hasn't grown her feathers back on her back where the others had pecked her feathers out and poor scarlet looks like an ex batt  the others pecked out all her leg feathers and her fluffy knickers a few months ago and they're not growing back. so she looks a bit tatty bless her.
