Milliechick
We got our 5 new additions on Saturday, two Pekins (Jane and Elizabeth) and three Australorps (Mary, Kitty and Lydia). The Pekins are older than the Australorps, and give them pecks when they get in the way. I'm hoping this isn't going to get serious, and that they are just sorting out a pecking order. (We didn't get them from the same place) I noticed today that one of the Pekins has poop stuck to its feet, can I just wash it off with warm water? And I'm giving them Poultry Spice in with their growers pellets, would it be a good idea to give them Garlic Powder as well? All advice is gratefully received
Redwing
Congratulations Pekins can be bolshy, just keep an eye on things Yes you can wash the Pekins feet with warm water and a bit of gentle washing up liquid or shampoo, rinse well though

Janty
Congratulations. I love my pekins and my Australorp is one of my friendliest chickens. Is your Australorp LF or miniature?
Milliechick
The Australorps are miniature ones, two black and one blue. I think they are about 10 weeks old, any ideas when should I expect our first eggs? (Already counting the days)

chick wiggle
I should think so too! I see no-one has yet answered your question about the garlic powder though. Im waiting for the answer to that one too
Chook n Boo Mum
I've not put garlic powder in any of my babies food yet, but the big girls get it to make their poos less smelly..........is that enough info or are you needing any more ...I think I'll start adding it to the babies anyway soon, the Buflfings are nearly the same size as the big girls...so is their poo so I s'pose the smell would be the same too Sorry I'm waffling, maybe I should have a glass of something & go to bed ...and I agree Pekins are small in stature but big in attitude Sha x
chick wiggle
Thanks Wild Mum, will hold off on the garlic powder for the babies for now then. Although, it might just be my unconditional love for them, but they dont seem to be smelly yet anyway
